Daily Bible Verses for January

January carries a quiet weight for believers. It is a natural pause that invites us to slow down, take stock, and return our attention to the Lord. While the turning of the calendar is not commanded in Scripture, God often uses seasons to draw His people back to what matters most. A new year gives us space to listen, repent where needed, and realign our hearts with the truth that God is always at work making all things new.Daily time in God’s Word grounds us when resolutions fade and routines press in. Scripture reminds us that renewal does not come through human effort alone, but through abiding in Christ. Verses that speak of new hearts, renewed strength, forgiveness, and hope help us begin each day with confidence in God’s faithfulness rather than our own resolve. When we seek Him first, He reshapes our desires and steadies our steps.Prayer and Scripture together form a rhythm that sustains us beyond January. As we meditate on God’s promises and pray His Word back to Him, our perspective changes. We are reminded that we do not walk into the new year alone. The same God who offers new mercies every morning also guides, strengthens, and restores His people day by day.Let these Daily Bible Verses for January help you begin each morning rooted in truth and expectation. Download the full list to keep God’s promises close, return to them often, and start the year anchored in the One who makes all things new.Click here or the image below to download this month's memory verse.

5 Things I Want to Do Better in the New Year

The end of each year is usually a time of reflection and evaluation. People often set new goals and objectives for what they want to accomplish in the new year. Recently I was reminded of a truth from Scripture that forced me to make sure I am focusing on doing five things in the new year. Here is the familiar verse, and then I will explain the five things.“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done” (Philippians 4:6, NLT).Here are five things I want to do better in the new year:Photo credit: ©Lil Artsy/Unsplash

6 Spiritual Disciplines to Carry Through the New Year

When I was in college, I learned about spiritual disciplines. My evangelism professor was the person who first started talking about these disciplines and made them meaningful to my life. Since I hadn't grown up in a Christian home or church, I was unaware of what spiritual disciplines were. However, when I learned about them in college, I started seeing just how important they are to our Christian walk. Around the New Year, it is easy to fall into the practice of making resolutions. While there is nothing inherently wrong with making resolutions, they are rather hard to uphold. Within a few weeks or months, we have given up on them. This can be fine if our New Year's resolution was to cook a new recipe each day, but if we are making a New Year's resolution related to the Bible, following Jesus, or spiritual disciplines, then we cannot easily give up on them. With the New Year here, we might want to be thinking about which spiritual disciplines we are struggling with. If we are struggling in all of them, we need to know that is okay. Don't allow anxiety to prevent you from working through each discipline and cultivating it correctly. Lean on God and do your best. He will help you as you cultivate spiritual disciplines in your life. Here are six spiritual disciplines to carry out through the New Year.Photo Credit: ©GettyImages/krisanapongdetraphiphat

5 Practices for Parents to Try in the New Year

With a New Year comes an invitation to begin creating new patterns and rhythms and adjust the culture that has developed in your home. It's a chance to reflect on what is working and what needs to change. We all can benefit from chances to "check in" as a family and adjust to refocus our homes on the good and beautiful that exists all around us.Take some time to review what your family is being intentional about. Make an effort to prioritize practices that bring you all closer to each other, honor God, and help develop healthy habits. Most importantly, as parents, we have to make sure we are willing to model what we want our kids to practice. So much more of our family values are caught than taught. We are the lead learners and lead teachers in our homes. Here are five practices that we can grow more intentional within our home in the New Year:Photo credit: ©GettyImages/jacoblund

The Bible’s Best Wisdom for Setting Goals That Actually Glorify God

Setting goals seems, on the surface, like it’s a simple process. But it involves more than just writing down your dreams in a planner and getting to work. That’s because it’s important to line your goals up with God’s purposes for your life. When you set goals, you’re deciding how you’ll spend the most valuable resource God has given you: your time.If you set goals without consulting God, you risk building a life that looks successful to the world but doesn’t actually help you fulfill God’s purposes for you. The good news is that the Bible is overflowing with wisdom on how to line up your goals with God’s kingdom. Here’s the Bible’s best wisdom for setting goals that actually glorify God.Photo Credit: Unsplash/lilartsy

5 New Year's Resolutions for Parents of Adult Children

Before I'd begun reading this Psalm, I had been missing my adult children and longing to see and connect with them. They are busy living their lives as they should be. I am so thankful that they are doing well and being responsible, mature adults. But occasionally, when there are longer stretches of time between when I connect with them, I will begin to long to spend time with them and get caught up on what is going on in their lives.
