5 Scriptures to Reflect on When Anxiety Strikes

Anxiety at its root is feeling stressed, nervous, and worried over things. Sometimes anxiety can be helpful, such as encouraging us to study for an exam or to start packing for a trip. However, when anxiety starts to feel like a prison you cannot escape, you could be struggling with an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders are mental health conditions that are becoming increasingly common. According to the American Psychiatric Association, anxiety disorders affect 30% of the adult populace in America. When anxiety strikes, it can truly ruin our day. For many people with an anxiety disorder, it can lead to a panic attack or an anxiety attack. I have struggled with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) for most of my life and I can share how much it has negatively impacted my life. Rather than being able to do normal things that most people see as no-brainers, I get extremely anxious. My thoughts begin to spiral down and before I know it, I’m having an anxiety attack. For many people, this is what happens as soon as they start feeling anxious. However, it also needs to be noted that there are many people who have slight anxiety over situations, but their anxiety is not part of an anxiety disorder. In other words, just because someone has occasional anxiety does not mean they have an anxiety disorder. It becomes an anxiety disorder once the anxiety interferes with your daily life. For those who struggle with baseline anxiety and for those of us who struggle with anxiety disorders, we can find help for both in the Word of God. Here are five Bible verses to reflect on when anxiety strikes. Photo Credit: ©GettyImages/Sinenkiy

5 Uplifting Scriptures and Prayers to Motivate You for the New Year

With the arrival of a new year, some are sad to see the old year go. Others feel a huge sense of relief after a difficult season in their lives. The feeling of a weight lifted from the past 365 days may bring eyes wide with excitement for what lies ahead. We gain a grander understanding of His mercies, which are new each morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). We have a better vision for God making all things new (2 Corinthians 5:17). We stop and reflect on our lives and the areas of growth from last year, as well as those we desire to see change in the future (Psalm 139:23-24).Today, pray into the new year using Bible verses—our prayer is that these Scriptures will strengthen your heart and motivate you for the days ahead.Photo credit: ©SWN/CanvaPro

Perfect Fellowship with Christ: A 7-Day Bible Study on the New Heaven and New Earth

The establishment of the New Heaven and New Earth will come after the rapture of the church, the seven-year Tribulation, the Millennial Kingdom, and the Great White Throne Judgment. Once these eschatological events happen, we know that the New Heaven and New Earth are quickly approaching. The New Heaven and New Earth are different from the present Heaven and Earth because it is permanent, perfect, and will not contain sin. Only believers will dwell in the New Heaven and New Earth. The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will live with us, and we will have perfect fellowship with them. Through this seven-day Bible study, we will learn about this beautiful promise and the hope that it can give us in the present day. After each focus passage, there will be a summary and challenge questions.Photo Credit: ©GettyImages/Ig0rZh
