God established family before the Fall, and the institution carried through afterward. He continued to use it to express and continue his redemptive plan. Paul wrote to Timothy regarding choosing elders for a church, and the list begins with godly character, including how someone leads their own family (1 Timothy 3:1-7). The church is modeled after the family, so we shouldn’t place people in leadership of a faith community if they haven’t been good stewards of their own family first. As our first ministry, we should pray with and for our family members. We must intercede on their behalf in our time before the throne.
